God's Word Are the Seeds

Mark 4:26-34 (selections)

KJV

26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. 

GNT (Good News Translation)

26 Jesus went on to say, The Kingdom of God is like this. A man scatters seed in his field. 27 He sleeps at night, is up and about during the day, and all the while the seeds are sprouting and growing. Yet he does not know how it happens. 28 The soil itself makes the plants grow and bear fruit; first the tender stalk appears, then the head, and finally the head full of grain.
 
 
31 It is like this. A man takes a mustard seed, the smallest seed in the world, and plants it in the ground. 32 After a while it grows up and becomes the biggest of all plants. It puts out such large branches that the birds come and make their nests in its shade.
 

What is the Ground?

Refer back to Mark 4:14-20 (Here is a hint: it is your heart!)

Have Patience With Your Faith

34 He would not speak to them without using parables, but when he was alone with his disciples, he would explain everything to them.

But we can’t be alone with Jesus for him to explain everything to us! (or CAN we?)

This is where Holy Spirit comes in. Jesus IS with us always, and in prayer and meditating on the Word, Holy Spirit (the 3rd person of God) will be our Helper!

John 14:16-17

GNT (Good News Translation)

16 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever. 17 He is the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God. The world cannot receive him, because it cannot see him or know him. But you know him, because he remains with you and is in you.
